Winter - it's cold, it's dark and everyone is wearing black. Now, just because the weather is grey, that doesn't mean that your outfit has to be! Here at TAMGA HQ in Toronto, Canada, we live for prints and coming up with exciting ways to style our printed pieces (especially since it's below zero half the year). So we've put together our top tips and tricks of how to wear your favourite prints in the chillier months of the year. Scroll down to be in the know!
1. Mix Prints With Solids
The easiest way to add some bright prints to your winter outfit is by pairing a printed top with any solid bottom. Whether it's denim, dark trousers or a maxi skirt with black boots, adding that printed top will elevate your look from yawn to yowza! Our favourite (and easiest) way to do that is by adding a TAMGA Kimono or the Bella Poncho over any top and bottom that are complimentary in colour.
2. Just Add Layers
Just because winter is doing her thing, that doesn't mean that you can't step out in your favourite floral dress! Why not throw on that cute parka or knee-length wool coat for the commute and then slip it off when you arrive. It's important to stay warm from point A to B, but don't be afraid to wear prints underneath the layers! We love the romantic look of paring a textured jacket with heeled ankle boots and a printed maxi like the Bethari Dress. Another way to style your favourite printed dress in the winter is to add a chunky sweater over it so it looks like a skirt (talk about a 2 in 1). We love doing this with the Jasmine Dress as it's a strappy midi dress (no bulky shoulders under the sweater) and the length allows for a space between the hem and the shoe. Voila!
3. Add Accessories
Accessories are like the missing piece of the puzzle when it comes to rocking prints in the winter. By adding accessories such as a felt hat, a brown belt, knee-high boots or a statement bag, you are tying in the printed garment to the whole look. Whether it's a dressy Friday night out, or a snowy Sunday afternoon at the coffee shop, with the right accessories there's no reason not to bring some colour and print into your everyday winter outfits!
A big thank you to Christina for the beautiful imagery in the Maya Kimono.
